As the holy month of Ramadhan has finally reached the final phase leading to Eid al Fitr, social gatherings over iftars had also gained momentum.

Over the weekend, Oman’s biggest social iftar gathering was held at the Al Makharim Hall

in Rusayl, hosting nearly 2,500 people from different walks of life.

The event organised by the Suhol al Fayha, and was attended by CEOs, managing directors, white collar corporate executives including vendors, sweepers, porters and other blue-collar workers from the Mawaleh Market.

“We conduct massive iftars every year on the third Friday of the holy month”, said Abdul Vahid, Managing Director of the company.

He said everything that was served to the guests were sourced from the products of the company.

“From the conceptualisation to the final implementation of the project, it is our team members who saw it through making sure that everything went about smoothly.”

Anticipating the last minute walk-ins, the organisers had kept some 300 spare food kits. They also set aside packed food items for motorists driving by and didn’t have the time to get inside.

“This is the 20th year in succession that we are conducting the social iftars”, says Jaffer Khan, BDM, Suhol Al Fayha Trading LLC.

“The event has only gotten better and bigger with larger participation year after year and we have plans to organise even bigger social iftar gatherings like this in the future,” he added.
