MUSCAT: The Food Safety Week, 2017 for South Al Sharqiyah Governorate was launched on Sunday under the auspices of Hamad bin Sulaiman al Gharibi, Under-Secretary for Regional Municipalities, at the general diwan of the Ministry of
Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.
The launch event included review of awareness programmes and campaigns that aimed at promoting good food safety practices. The Awareness Bag which includes a number of awareness publications about foot safety was also launched during the event.
Speaking at the event, Engineer Mohammed bin Saif al Amri, Director-General of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources said that marking the
Food Safety Week confirms the ministry’s keenness to raise public awareness about the best methods of food storage and preservation
and spread the culture of safe marketing.
Such events will increase food safety awareness and for that purpose the ministry has prepared a comprehensive programme which includes an awareness display highlighting the safest practices to follow while shopping for food commodities.
