DEAD SEA: Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tareq al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, took part in the 28th Arab Summit, which commenced its deliberations in the Dead Sea in Jordan on Wednesday. The summit addressed a range of issues including the Palestinian cause, as well as the situation in Syria, Libya and Yemen.

Arab leaders stressed their continued backing for an independent Palestinian state and also strongly criticised the continued building of Jewish settlements on occupied territory. The summit’s host, King Abdullah of Jordan, said the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel remained the basis of any comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace deal. “Israel is continuing to expand settlements and wreck chances of peace... There is no peace or stability in the region without a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause through a two-state solution,” the king said. — ONA, Reuters
