MUSCAT: The Executive Council of Arab Swimming Confederation held a meeting under the chairmanship of Taha bin Sulaiman al Kishry, President of the Arab Swimming Confederation.

The meeting was attended by council members and was held at the sidelines of the Arab U-20 Water Polo Championship held in the Republic of Tunisia during the period from October 9–13, 2017 with the participation of a number of Arab teams.

Al Kishry inaugurated the Arab U-20 Water Polo Championship.

Opening the meeting, Al Kishry appreciated the Oman Swimming Association for the successful hosting by the Sultanate of the meeting of the Board of Directors of Arab Swimming Confederation and the General Assembly to elect a new board for the term of office 2017–2020 held in Muscat on April 10, 2017.

The council members commended the results of the two meetings and the significant efforts made by Oman Swimming Association in hosting the successful elections which were hailed by the General Assembly members.

The Executive Office of the Arab Swimming Confederation reviewed the decisions passed at the meetings of the Confederation’s Executive Office and Board of Directors held in Muscat.

The Executive Office members then reviewed the agenda item and took several decisions, foremost of which was approving the new formation of the technical committee and women’s committee.

The new formation comes in the context of the considerable efforts made by the Arab Swimming Confederation with a view to distributing duties to all members for promotion of future championships and competitions staged under the Confederation’s supervision.

The meeting also approved recommendations and decisions made in the previous meetings on a number of issues including the next season’s programme for swimming championships, water polo, diving and specialised courses for Arab referees and coaches.
