300 take part in N Batinah summer programme

Muscat, July 15 - A summer programme titled ‘My Summer, My Education’ was launched by Sohar Port and Freezone under the auspices of Directorate-General of Education, North Al Batinah Governorate.


Launched at the International Maritime College, the programme was attended by 300 students, both male and female, from wilayats of Suhar and Liwa.


Speaking on the occasion, CEO of Sohar Port and Freezone Dr Swead bin Saeed al Shemaisi said, “This programme is aimed at promoting cooperation between society and the company. We have been cooperating with the Directorate-General of Education of North Al Batinah to facilitate the learning process and the future of our children for the sixth time.”


It is aimed at improving students’ English language skills, speaking, writing and listening through specialised curricula and experienced teachers.

It will develop their talents and interests through scientific and practical workshops in the fields of photography, computers, art editing, educational robots, art of figuration and geometrical village.


According to Dr Khalid al Balushi, Assistant Director of Department of Education Programmes and president of organising committee of the programme, six scientific and practical workshops are being conducted at 13 labs for the students.


“Such summer programmes play a significant role in building students’ skills and personalities, thanks to companies such as Sohar Port and Freezone,” he said.
