Muscat, August 15 - Around 25 passengers were injured when a private bus met with an accident on Muscat-Nizwa Road near Jifnain on Tuesday morning. The passengers, who suffered light to serious injuries, were admitted to different hospitals, said the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
A Gulf Transport Company (GTC) official told the Observer that the bus driver and passengers admitted to the hospital were out of danger.
The ill-fated bus with 50 passengers was travelling to Muscat. It had left Salalah around 9 pm.
The ROP later reported traffic congestion on the Muscat-Nizwa Road and urged road users to exercise caution near the accident site. It was reported that passersby stopped their vehicles at the accident spot, slowing traffic on the stretch that led to traffic congestion.
Regular bus passengers to Salalah said the transport companies should ensure that drivers get adequate rest before taking to the wheel. They also wanted two drivers on each trip on this route.
