2 arrested for kidnapping expats, impersonation

Muscat - Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested two people on charges of kidnapping two Asian expatriates and demanding a ransom for their release. They claimed to be the police officers during execution of the crime.


The Nizwa police station received a communication from the son of one of the victim that his father and his colleague have been kidnapped with the kidnappers requesting a ransom for their release.


The combined efforts of the investigations team and various investigation agencies helped determine the whereabouts of the kidnappers in Muscat, which led to their arrest.


The source said that during the investigation it was clear that the accused with had criminal background and had committed a similar crime earlier for money.
